Printing & design
General questions about our printing & design
What are the design do’s and don’ts?
For the best print results, follow these design guidelines:
- Keep text and logos at least 5 mm from the edge of our template.
- Submit high-resolution images and vectorized files (AI, PDF, or EPS).
- Use a minimum 300 dpi resolution if sending JPEGs / PNGs.
- Include the mandatory SUP marking on cups.
- Avoid fan-shaped templates, we use rectangular templates for accuracy and you can download them HERE
You’ll always receive a digital proof before production to ensure your design looks perfect. If you need some change on the first version, reject your proof and specify what you want to alter. Our studio will then create another proof for you!
CMYK vs. Pantone – what’s the difference?
CMYK: Used for our digital and flexographic printing. CMYK is short for cyan, magenta, yellow, black. This method allows for full-color, detailed images and is ideal for smaller or variable print runs.
Pantone or PMS :(Pantone Matching System) color for precise color consistency, especially suitable for large production runs.
CMYK offers flexibility and rich imagery; Pantone provides exact brand color matching but is more expansive and we only use PMS for specific colors and large print runs.
For other products we also use Offset printing (bowls, buckets, plant pots).
Flexographic vs. Digital Printing - what's the difference?
Digital printing: Perfect for smaller custom runs or detailed designs. Quick turnaround and 4-color process (CMYK).
Flexographic printing: Uses CMYK + 1 PMS inks on request. Best for large quantities.
Digital printing is typically faster for short runs, while flexo printing offers better color consistency for big orders and reduces costs and production time.
Mandatory markings (France)
French and EU legislation require certain environmental markings:
- SUP marking (“PRODUCT CONTAINS PLASTIC”): mandatory on all paper cups containing plastic lining.
- Triman logo: mandatory for recyclable packaging in France.
CUPSZ ensures that all required markings are automatically included in your design to keep your product compliant.
